Diescentric was purchased at Keeneland in Kentucky in September 2008. He is from an excellent family and is out of a half-sister to Group One winner and successful sire, Oratorio.
Diescentric was previously trained by Henry Cecil and although he didn't run as a two-year-old, the son of Diesis won first time out as a three-year-old when running away with the Wood Ditton Stakes at Newmarket in April 2010. He ran in a very competitive conditions race at Newmarket two weeks later and was a creditable fourth, but pulled some muscles during the race and was not seen on the racecourse again until the spring of 2011.
After a few mediocre efforts, he hit top form at Ripon in August when winning a very competitive handicap over a mile. He was subsequently made one of the favourites for the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket, but an injury means he will require a period on the sidelines.
