Javert is a ten-year-old bay gelding by Kayf Tara out of Royalrova. He is in training with Emma Lavelle.

After showing ability over hurdles, Javert won on his chasing debut at Chepstow in November 2015, before following up at Doncaster a month later. Javert enjoyed a final run of the season at Haydock in May 2016, where he ran the best race of his career to win in emphatic style. Having had time off with a leg injury, he looks a fascinating prospect.

Javert is from the same family as Le Duc, who was a Grade 2 winner over hurdles and was a tough and consistent performer in some of the best staying chases throughout his career. Kayf Tara has sired some high-class Jumpers, including Hennessy Gold Cup winner, Carruthers and Mad Max, Planet Of Sound and Cheltenham stalwart, Kayf Aramis.

Javert is trained by Emma Lavelle, who has achieved a huge amount of success with Axom-owned horses, including the Graded winners Bouggler and Shotgun Paddy. She also trained Ouzbeck to win the Listed Summer National at Uttoxeter in 2010.
