Ellarna's sire, Lucarno, won the St Leger in 2007 and has produced a number of decent jumps horses. Ellarna is beautifully bred and her dam was a decent hurdler who narrowly missed out on Black Type in a competitive Grade 3 event at Auteuil. Ellarna's dam-sire is Robin Des Champs, who has had such a huge influence on Jumps racing in Europe, and she is also from the family of Une Artiste, who won the Grade 3 Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in 2012.

Ellarna showed promise in her first two bumpers, finishing third at both Ludlow and Taunton. She had a wind operation after her summer break and is now back in training at Ditcheat.

Paul Nicholls has achieved a huge amount of success training for Axom, including Grade 1 wins with Irving and Vibrato Valtat, as well as other top quality races with Edgardo Sol (Grade 3 Red Rum Chase), Far West (two Grade 2 juvenile hurdles), Lifeboat Mona (Listed mares' hurdle), Tagrita (Listed mares' hurdle) and High Secret (two-time winner and Grade 1-placed).
