Declared runner - Buster Thomas at Wincanton on Saturday 10 November for Emma Lavelle and Paddy Cowley.
Thursday 8 November, 2018
Deansgate gained the third win of his career at Newcastle last week, with an impressive display under Jason Hart. The son of Dandy Man is the model of consitency and his owners have enjoyed another good year with two wins and numerous decent efforts in defeat. Two days later, Fidux gave his owners a real thrill when landing a Listed handicap hurdle at Ascot in emphatic style. Ridden with confidence by Wayne Hutchinson, this was a great performance and it will be fascinating to see where he heads next.
Thursday 1 November, 2018
Declared Runner - Orliko at Newmarket on Friday for Richard Hannon and Hollie Doyle.
Wednesday 24 October, 2018
Javert, who won so impressively at Uttoxeter last time after over two years off the track, is likely to head to Aintree this weekend for the Grade 2 Old Roan Chase. Owned by Axom LII, Javert is a really talented jumper and has now won four of his six chase starts, impressing on each occasion. Emma Lavelle, who trains Javert, also handled the sorely-missed Edgardo Sol to finish second in the Old Roan Chase back in 2014 and she traditionally does very well at the Merseyside venue. The ground has become very fast again at almost every racecourse after another dry week but Aintree do a great job and water consistently through the summer to ensure safe ground if there is a dry autumn. We will be keeping everything crossed for Javert and his owners on Sunday and hope he runs well at this wonderful Grade 1 track.
Wednesday 10 October, 2018
Fidux won nicely on his seasonal debut today at Southwell in a competitive handicap hurdle over two miles. Trained by Alan King and ridden by Wayne Hutchinson, Fidux travelled very well and jumped with accuracy to record a comprehensive victory. Congratulations to his owners!
Thursday 4 October, 2018
Declared Runners - Axom have Makanah running at Redcar (Julie Camacho/Paul Hanagan) and Blakeney Point at Ascot (Kieran Shoemark/Roger Charlton) on Saturday.
Tuesday 25 September, 2018
Nylon Speed wins his first hurdle race! Nylon Speed is now unbeaten in Axom colours, following wins on the Flat at Kempton last month and over hurdles at Warwick on Tuesday 25 September. He opened his account over timber for Alan King and Wayne Hutchinson in fine style, beating the odds-on favourite and dual winner, Full Bore, trained by Nicky Henderson. This was an excellent introduction for the German import and we hope he can enjoy a long and successful career in Axom colours.
Monday 24 September, 2018
Javert bounced back to his brilliant best on Sunday, when landing the feature race at Uttoxeter in great style under Leighton Aspell. Javert had been off the track for over 800 days but Emma Lavelle had him absolutely spot on and he ran out an impressive winner. Congratulations to his patient owners and everyone at Bonita Stables!

Thursday 20 September, 2018
Blakeney Point gained a breakthrough success in Pattern company last Saturday, when landing the Listed Stand Cup Stakes at Chester. The son of Sir Percy had strung together four good efforts in better company this year prior to this engagement and the race at Chester looked his easiest assignment of the year on paper. He had won at the track earlier in his career and got his preferred ground this time, so everything looked set for a big run and he didn't disappoint. As a horse who likes cut in the ground, there will be lots of options for him this autumn and we look forward to seeing where he heads next. Congratulations to his owners!
Thursday 13 September, 2018
Blakeney Point has not had his favoured soft ground so far this year but conditions should be in his favour this weekend, when he lines up for a competitive handicap at Chester on Saturday. Good luck to all of his owners.
Thursday 6 September, 2018
Declared Runner - Makanah at Thirsk on Saturday for Julie Camacho and Graham Lee.
Wednesday 29 August, 2018
If you had told us before the Ebor that Blakeney Point would finish fifth, we would have been very happy indeed. Sent off at 12/1 and tipped up by a number of pundits, including on ITV, Blakeney raced towards the back of the field under Jamie Spencer, having missed the break by a fraction. He travelled strongly on the inside and was forced to weave his way through in the straight, ending up coming off the rail to make progress down the middle of the track, before getting up for fifth in the shadow of the post and beaten only six lengths. The winner is a Group horse and won a Group 3 at four last year, while the second was the highest-rated runner in the field. Blakeney Point had a number of useful horses behind him, including Nakeeta, who won the Ebor last year before finishing fifth in the Melbourne Cup. Blakeney Point has done his owners proud this year and despite not getting his head in front yet at five, he has run consistently well and hasn't had his optimum ground conditions since winning at Leicester on his final start last year. Hopefully, now that the weather has taken a turn and autumn is upon us, Roger can find a winning opportunity for him soon.
Thursday 23 August, 2018
Declared runner - Blakeney Point in the £500,000 Ebor Handicap at York on Saturday for Roger Charlton and Jamie Spencer.
Monday 6 August, 2018
Makanah was a good winner at Doncaster on Saturday to land his second win of the season. Makanah shows plenty of speed and seemed to relish this drop back to the minimum trip. Well done to his owners.
Thursday 2 August, 2018
Blakeney Point ran well in the Old Newton Cup on his last start at Haydock, but he returns to Goodwood tomorrow, to contest the Group 3 Glorious Stakes for what will be his toughest assignment to date. The son of Sir Percy is a model of consistency, has run really well at the track before and hopes are high that he will build on his excellent effort in a Listed race there earlier in the season. Blakeney Point has been in very good form at home and everyone is hopeful that he will run his usual, consistent race. Roger Charlton has plotted Blakeney Point's campaign very carefully and he has opted to run in this Group 3 race rather than the handicap in which he was second last year. Good luck to all of his owners.

Tuesday 29 May, 2018
Makanah got his head in front at Redcar yesterday, with an impressive display under Paul Mulrennan. Makanah has always looked a promising type and this good-looking three-year-old will hopefully go on to better things this summer. On Saturday, Blakeney Point ran really well in the Listed Tapster Stakes at Goodwood to finish fourth (demoted from third). The game son of Sir Percy got a little tired in the closing stages and will come on a lot for this first run of the season.
Thursday 24 May, 2018

Tuesday 1 May, 2018
With warmer weather hopefully just around the corner, it could be a busy time for Axom runners over the next few weeks. On 22 April, Buster Thomas landed his first win over fences for Axom LXVII and Emma Lavelle in good style. Buster Thomas has been inconvenienced by the soft conditions everywhere all winter so it was good to see him enjoy himself on better ground. He could run again as early as next week. Fidux has been a star for his owners and he finished a game third at Sandown last weekend under Wayne Hutchinson. Trainer Alan King is likely to keep Fidux going for the time-being if he can find some decent ground. Looking ahead, Captain Simon is bursting for a run and is entered at Warwick on Monday, as is Dark Mahler.
Friday 27 April, 2018
Declared Runner - FIDUX on Saturday at Sandown's Jumps Finale Meeting for Wayne Hutchinson and Alan King.
Monday 26 February, 2018
Shotgun Paddy ran a game race in defeat in the Devon National at Exeter on Friday, just failing to reel in Dawson City on the run-in. It was great to see Axom XXXVI's Shotgun Paddy bounce back to form and jump with enthusiasm from the front. Vibrato Valtat ran a solid race at Kempton on Saturday, finishing seventh in a very hot renewal of the Grade 3 Betdaq Handicap Chase. Trainer Emma Lavelle feels that 2m6f on decent ground is probably Vibrato Valtat's ideal conditions so he will hopefully manage to get his head in front again this Spring.
Thursday 8 February, 2018
Buster Thomas has been a shade unlucky in his runs so far this season, and the theme continued at Doncaster this afternoon when he narrowly avoided disaster at the first fence with the favourite, Powerful Symbol, falling and hampering several runners. Buster Thomas did very well to stay on his feet and after being brought back into the race under a sympathetic Nick Scholfield ride, he soon found himself in contention rounding the home turn. Buster Thomas jumped very well on the whole and despite rallying, he could not make significant headway from two out and he stayed on at the same pace to finish fifth. This was a very creditable performance from Buster Thomas, especially considering the first fence drama, and it will be interesting to see him running on decent ground this Spring, as he looks to be a horse with potential.
Friday 19 January, 2018
Declared Runner - Irving at Taunton tomorrow for Paul Nicholls and Brony Frost, taking off a very valuable 5lbs.
Wednesday 17 January, 2018
Deansgate landed the second win of his career at Newcastle last week in fine style under Paul Mulrennan. Deansgate is extremely consistent and deserved this second success after some game efforts this winter. Trainer Julie Camacho is likely to find another opportunity for Deansgate in the coming weeks.
Tuesday 9 January, 2018
Declared Runner - Dark Mahler at Ludlow on Wednesday for Emma Lavelle and Nick Scholfield.
Tuesday 9 January, 2018

Monday 4 December, 2017
Irving ran a fine race at Newcastle on Saturday, when finishing a game second in the Grade 1 Fighting Fifth Hurdle under Sean Bowen. Irving, twice a winner of the Fighting Fifth, was facing a tough assignment with the presence of Champion Hurdler Buveur D'Air lining up, but Axom LXIX's son of Singspiel jumped and travelled well and stayed on strongly after jumping the last to take second. Trainer Paul Nicholls was delighted and this was a fine return to the track for Irving.
Sunday 26 November, 2017
Declared Runner - Captain Simon for Team Skelton in the 12.50 at Kempton on Monday.
Thursday 16 November, 2017
Dark Mahler won on his chasing debut on Thursday 16 November at Ludlow, landing the first win of his career so far. Dark Mahler was third in a point-to-point in January 2016 and was bought by Axom to go hurdling. He was pulled up on his hurdling debut in December 2016, in a race where he did not get any luck, before running with promise in two subsequent starts in January and April 2017. Dark Mahler was always bought with chasing in mind, so it was great to see him get off to the best possible start and give his owners a wonderful day out.
