Blakeney Point is a six-year-old bay gelding by Sir Percy out of Cartoon. He is in training with Roger Charlton.

Blakeney Point has been a revelation in his career so far. After winning three races as a three-year-old, the son of Sir Percy won the Queen's Prize at Kempton in April 2017, which earned him favouritism for the Chester Cup, where he failed to stay the trip. Eventually dropped back to 1m 4f, Blakeney Point then won his final two starts of the season, earning him a lofty rating of 105, putting him in the higher echelons of Flat racing handicappers. In 2018, he strung together four good efforts in top-class company without managing to get his head in front for one reason or another, but he gained a well-deserved first win of the year in September at Chester. This was a Listed race over an extended mile and a half and this was the first time he got his preferred soft ground this year, and it was a breakthrough win at Pattern level. He has been a fantastic servant and we hope he will have a successful autumn campaign for his owners.

Flat rating: 105
Note: On 22 January 2019, there were 8,821 (flat turf) horses with an official BHA rating, the lowest being 1 and the highest 130. The median average is currently 68.

'Blakeney Point is a lovely big horse and he should progress further as he matures.' Roger Charlton
